Add a simple admin footer text in WordPress

If you have worked with WordPress, you have probably noticed that little message which system shows you on the backend, while you’re working in the admin panel.

“Thank you for creating with WordPress”, reads the message and links you to wordpress.org pages.

In case you still don’t believe you can change practically anything in WordPress, in this short article we are going to show you how to change that text.

You might wonder why you would even want to change something like that. But let’s say you are working on a site for a client. Is it just us or this might be a good place to leave a quick note with your contact information for your client? The message or that contact information won’t be intrusive, but it will always be there in case your client forgets your email or where to find you.

To change that little sentence, follow this simple procedure:

  1. Open functions.php file which is located in your theme’s folder
  2. Copy and paste the following code
  3. function custom_admin_footer() {
    echo 'Write anything you want here';
    }
    add_filter('admin_footer_text', 'custom_admin_footer');
  4. Change the text under apostrophes to anything you want
  5. Save changes
  6. Check your admin footer area
