If you have created your WordPress website as a web portal which covers news from different sources or you simply have a lot of articles about a certain topic, you will probably need several authors which can contribute to your website. Once your team has more than two authors, communication between them quickly becomes crucial. Although there are different plugins which can let you leave messages in WordPress and there are different services outside WordPress which can help you communicate, sometimes it’s better to have a live chat right in the work area.
In this article, we’re going to show you a simple plugin which will allow you to chat with all authors. Once you install the plugin, anyone with access to your WP dashboard will be able to open a chat box.
This is a great tool which gives your authors a way of connecting on a personal level as well as it is great for arranging quick online meetings. Instead of leaving messages or sending emails and waiting for response, with Author Chat you can quickly decide which author is going to write a certain article.
If you’re ready to install your new admin chat, here’s what to do:
- Go to Plugins->Add New
- Search for “Author Chat” plugin
- Install and activate it
- Navigate to Dashboard->Author Chat and you’re ready to leave your first live message
At this point, there isn’t much you can change about the plugin. But, the good news is that the plugin saves all of your chats in a separate WordPress table which you can easily control. By default, Author Chat will keep your messages up to 30 days which you can change in the settings pages.
That’s all there is. Enjoy your simple communication system and go tell your authors to write new articles, they’re probably chatting about new memes they found on the Internet.
