Blushing Belle blog by Heather

My name is Heather and I am 26. This blog, Blushing Belle is about my life, hobbies, beauty and what ever else I feel like writing about.  I have a love and passion for beauty, health and all things beautiful. What can I say, I love what I love. My motto in life is that if you like, wear it. It’s not about what you are wearing, but your attitude while you are wearing it! That applies to make up, fashion and whatever else you can imagine.

Beauty Blogging is just my hobby. My dream is to eventually make it my profession one day!

When did you get an idea to launch your own blog and how important is it for you be online?

I got the idea to start a blog because so many of my friends and family were asking me about my own make up tips. I decided this was the easiest way for me to answer everyone’s questions and requests. Being online is important because I have friends and family from all over the states.

Did you have someone help you make the website or did you do it by yourself?

I do it all by myself. My husband assists with some of the photos, but overall this is a one man show.

The right domain name is important. How long did it take you to come up with the domain name for your blog?

It only took me a few days. I fell in love with my name and I just knew that’s what I wanted to brand my blog.

What kind of Theme do you use on your blog and what are the “must have” plugins for a blog?

I use a generic theme. I like it to be bubbly and bright, as I like my life. My must have plug in would have to be the comments. I can’t function a blog without them!

What CMS (Content Management System) do you use on your blog? How hard is it to navigate within your CMS (making a new post, inserting images, moderating comments, etc.)?

Right now I use Virb. It’s so simple to use it’s almost too simple! I am in the process of switching over to Wix. This CMS has so many more options for customizing and creating a personalized website. Also simple to use.

Right now, not as much as I hope. This year has been one life event after the other and it has been hard to focus on my hobbies. When I am fully committed, I spend about 3-4 hours per blog post (from start to finish).

How do you promote your blog? Do you use social media channels to attract more visitors to your blog?

I use Twitter and Bloglovin. I find that I can easily access my fans better this way. I can also easily network with my favorite bloggers through these two channels.

Is there a way to monetize (make money) through a blog?

Definitely! I haven’t focused on it because that’s not why I started my blog. However, I know many bloggers who make some extra change through their blog!

Would you encourage other people to make their own blogs?

Of course! Everyone has a voice and a talent! Why not share it? Even if it’s not fashion or beauty I encourage everyone to start!

Just go for it! Don’t worry about haters. If you love to write, I encourage you to keep at it. When life gets tough and you just don’t have time, just pick up where you left off. The biggest piece of advice: It’s your blog. You do it on your own terms.
