Emily started The Glam Files in January 2014 after moving to the east coast for a job in fashion to share her love of style and beauty.
Blogging is my hobby. I love my day job but blogging gives me an outlet to share my passion and be in conversation with readers.
Did you have someone help you make the website or did you do it by yourself?
I made the website myself. I set up the domain and purchased a template I liked and edited it with a bit of coding I know from a few classes in college.
The right domain name is important. How long did it take you to come up with the domain name for your blog?
A while! It wasn’t hard coming up with names but it seemed like every name I wanted the URL was taken or someone had it which I feel is a problem a lot of new bloggers will run in to.
What kind of Theme do you use on your blog and what are the “must have” plugins for a blog?
How much time do you spend blogging?
It varies! I don’t have a set schedule for blogging and probably spend, on average, a few hours a week doing the behind-the-scenes work on WordPress and different amounts of time shooting photos, planning posts and talking to people via email or social media about the blog.
How do you promote your blog? Do you use social media channels to attract more visitors to your blog?
Yes! I started using social media channels before I started blogging and do promote my blog through them now.
Please give us some advice for new bloggers and for people who are still not sure if they need a blog of their own?
