My name is Megan Elliott and I am the creator and blogger behind LushtoBlush.com, a little peek into my fashion obsessed life. Aside from my blog, I currently work as a freelance writer and stylist. In my spare time, I hang out with my adorable pup Adri, watch my shows, and read or watch documentaries. I am an avid lover of the earth and everything on it, especially flowers, and have been a vegetarian for six years. I may or may not be addicted to iced coffee.
I blog full time and I love it!
When did you get an idea to launch your own blog and how important is it for you be online?
Being online is something that is very important to me. I have always loved how the internet connects us all and puts us in front of people from around the world we otherwise would probably never meet or come across. I started my own blog after my best friend suggested it. The magazine I was writing for had just folded and I was so sad that I was no longer writing every day. She suggested I start my own blog and it just clicked. I bought the domain that day and started blogging immediately.
Did you have someone help you make the website or did you do it by yourself?
About 2 hours. I was driving from the west coast of FL to the east and I came up with the name on that road trip.
I’m not sure what a CMS is (I’ve never heard that term), but if you mean the blogging platform, I use WordPress. It is very easy and user friendly – I love it!
I blog full time so I can spend 60-80 hours/week blogging.
How do you promote your blog? Do you use social media channels to attract more visitors to your blog?
I am very active on social media. I am obsessed with instagram! Other than that, I love connecting with fellow blogger – the blogging community is the best part of blogging!
Is there a way to monetize (make money) through a blog?
Of course! I wouldn’t be alive if there wasn’t haha. I earn money mainly through sponsored posts.
Of course! I love blogging! But it’s important to blog for the right reasons (aka passion, not making money!).
Please give us some advice for new bloggers and for people who are still not sure if they need a blog of their own?
Blogging takes A LOT of work and it’s important to know that most people don’t earn money from their blog. For the vast majority, it is simply a passion project that they treat as a hobby. I would also say definitely take advantage of those connections with other bloggers. Blogger friendships make blogging a million times better! I love how supportive the community is.
