Dressing up a Fashion Blog by BambisArmoire.com

ABOUTMEPIC2_zpsdd11ecd4The first person I had a privilege to interview about fashion blogging was Tosha Eason, a freelance stylist, fashion blogger and a designer. She’s originally from Texas and is currently based in Los Angeles where she is the owner of www.BambisArmoire.com blog since 2011. With her unique style and a sense for fashion, she has been recommended by many fashion magazines like the Teen Vogue, Cinhte Magazine and Glamour and has over 3,000 followers on Facebook and 7,000 followers on Instagram. Tosha is continuously working to expand her knowlege in the fashion industry, thus sharpening her talent by educating herself through relevant fashion styling, fashion design courses, books and media.

Her blog is about fashion, beauty and personal style. She shared with us her experience in the world of fashion blogging. Enjoy! I know I did!

Now, tell us a bit about yourself and your love for fashion.

My love for fashion started when I was in middle school.  I can’t say it was anything particular that happened on the outside, it was just a deep desire on the inside that I had.  I love it so much, it makes me happy to be a stylist and be able to create and do what I love.

What inspired you to make your own website?

A friend said to me that I should start a fashion blog, and I had no idea what she was really talking about and totally dismissed the idea.  Then a year later I decided to research starting my own personal style blog and decided to give it a try.  I’m so happy I did!

Did you have any professional help or did you created it yourself?

Well in the beginning I studied the basics of coding and created it myself, but last year I actually created a new layout and hired a professional to do the coding and technical stuff.

What CMS – Content Management System are you using?

Have you ever redesign your website in order to boost traffic and are you happy with your traffic overall? What is the feedback like?

I think it’s important to keep your site visually stimulating and clean, and the feedback I received after redesigning my blog was great.

Now, THE BIG QUESTION that everybody’s wondering; is it possible to make money from a fashion blog?

It’s definitely possible, but I don’t think anyone should do it for that reason.  I had no idea that a person could make money through having a blog.  I started my blog because I enjoyed sharing my personal style and musings with others who could relate and that is what makes me happiest about having my blog.

tosha2You have a lot of followers to your blog — congrats on that! How did you do this? How important do you think social media is as a part of promotion and how do you promote your website?

Thank you!  It’s definitely growing and for that I am grateful.  I didn’t do anything in particular but post and share through my social media platforms and great social sites dedicated to personal style like Chictopia.  I think social media is very important, depending on where you want to take your blog.  I am super busy so keeping up with all of my social media platforms is difficult, but I try 🙂

How active are you on a weekly basis, how often do you post and communicate with your followers?

I try to post twice a week, but sometimes mine and my photographers schedules just get crazy.  I am always striving to be more consistent with posting.

What would you say that is the biggest challenge about fashion blogging?

For me, it’s definitely consistency.  I have a busy life outside of blogging that can take priority many times, so that’s always the toughest area to find balance.

How would you describe your own personal style and is there a person who is a fashion inspiration to you?

I would describe my personal style as edgy, laid-back, with a little bit of flare. I don’t think there is one particular person that I can say inspires me style wise. I’m more inspired by designers like Olivier Rousteing for Balmain and Ricardo Tisci for Givenchy, who create these amazing articles of clothing that are considered a work of art. They inspire me so much. My dream is to start my own clothing line, which I’m working on now.

What would you say that is the greatest satisfaction of being a fashion blogger ( gifts, invitations to fashion events, interaction with people, etc.)

For me, it’s the ability to have my own creative space where I can share my style and be myself and build cyber relationships with those kind enough to read my blog and leave the nicest comments that motivate me to keep blogging.

The biggest tip you have for anyone wanting to start a fashion blog or a website would be…?

Only do it because you love blogging and have a desire to share and bring a special element of self for people to relate to :-). Oh and of course always be confident and trust your perspective no matter what the feedback may be!
