If you have installed WordPress and started customizing your new blog, you have probably realized there’s so much you can do with this powerfull tool. There’s a reason WordPress is so popular and one of the top reasons to use WP is its extensibility.
Although many things can be achieved only by writing the code or installing plugins, there are some things you can easily do from the main settings page.
If you have just started, you may still have a standard WP site which you haven’t customized yet. One of the things you might be wondering about is how to change the number of posts which appear on your homepage. By default, WordPress will show 10 posts per page. You might want to reduce the number or to show even more posts and the good news is that you don’t need a plugin or messing with the code to achieve that. In this short article, we’re about to show you how to change the number of posts on your blog pages:
Change the number of posts displayed on blog:
- Go to Settings->Reading
- Change the number next to “Blog Pages show at most”
- Save changes
Yep, it was simple as that. You can do the same for syndication feeds and choose the number of posts which will be displayed.
Don’t forget to refresh your homepage after you have saved changes to see how your website looks after that. If you have entered a number higher than 10, you might end up having problems with the loading time (depending on your server speed and the content you’re presenting). If that’s the case, be careful deciding between higher post number per page and your site speed – while higher number might ease up browsing through your site, you might lose visitors who will have to wait more than a few seconds to load the homepage. The decision is up to you.
If you’re ready to make bigger changes to your blogroll, you might be interested in removing entire categories from showing up on the blogroll.
