Introduction

Register.com is under the Web.com Group, Inc. since 2010. They have over 20 years in the industry, 50 products and 2 million domain names under management.

Services offered

Besides being a registrar, Register.com is also email provider, host, and marketing service provider. So if you want to dabble in more than just domain registration, you can find it all in one place.

TLDs offered

There are a few TLDs that are country based, but a majority of them are Descriptive. While they do not have official number of TDLs, we counted 316 for now

Pre-order

Although they have options for preregistration of certain domains, the last pre-registration was open in 2015. Maybe in the future, they will open it soon, but at least we know they had pre-registration.

Privacy

There is an option for privacy registration, but it will cost you $11 per year, which is a lot more than the competition.

Pricing

While their introductory prices are nuts, which is $5/y for a domain, $1.95/mo for domain and website and $2.95/mo for a domain, website, and marketing, those are just introductory. What we could dig up in about their fee in the terms and conditions was reinstatement fee, which is currently set at $25. That is a bit more than we expected and we would appreciate a bit more transparency.
