NameSilo was founded by Michael McCallister and Michael Goldfarb in 2009 and launched in October 2010 in Phoenix with the goal of providing low-cost website purchases.
They maintain focus on domains and do not venture out into other services like hosting, email support, web design, search engine marketing, or any other services that would remove their attention from being a domain registrar.
There are currently 372 TLDs available, but their number is increasing steadily. However, they are focused on the western hemisphere, since all of their TLDs are in Latin.
Pre-order is the only thing that we could not find. There is Marketplace that is constantly offering domains that have been listed for sale by other customers or are domains that have not been renewed. You can add them to a watchlist, but it is still not a preorder option.
There is a free WHOIS privacy for every domain forever, which is great because when it comes to competition, you usually need to pay some yearly amount for it.
A lot of TLDs will have introductory pricing that is more or less cheaper than their renewal prices. There are even discount prices (and you don’t have to be a reseller for those) that could lower cost per individual domain even further. Common .com will jump from $6.99 to $8.99 and there are some TLDs that will go below $2 for first time registration, which is nuts! They promised cheap and they delivered.
