FirstSiteGuide Scholarship (2023)

FirstSiteGuide is an online knowledge base helping people start personal or business websites and blogs. These sites can be places to show off your hobbies, offer advice to others, advance your business interests, or just share personal stories, pictures, and videos. We believe the web is a great place to make new connections from all over the world or just your own neighborhood.

Buy, sell, share your passions, educate, or entertain. Whatever you want to do, we want to help you do it. Of course, we know why we do what we do, but we want to hear it from your perspective.

Why Should You Start a Blog?

In the beginning, words were transient. They could move from one person to the next, but they died whenever they were not passed along—even the ones that survived by being passed, over and over, changed a little with each retelling. There was no permanence. And then there was writing.

Writing changed everything. Now, our words go on long after us. The thoughts of men and women who died a thousand years ago are here with us. We can read the books our great-grandparents read. The past couple of decades have brought tremendous change to what it means to write, however. Our thoughts are now easily shared in electronic format. Blogs are everywhere.

Clearly, blogs are important, but, the question is: Why? Why should you start a blog? First Site Guide is sponsoring a $1,000 scholarship for any student who can write the blog post with the best answer to that question.

If you cannot agree to these terms, please do not participate. All rights and ownership of submitted content are transferred to First Site Guide, irrespective of selection for scholarship offers. First Site Guide reserves the right to publish any submissions once the submission period has elapsed. Winners will be selected by First Site Guide, by the criteria of their choice.

The winner will be notified by email and will be accepted upon provision of a tuition bill in their name or a letter of proof from an accredited college or university in which the winner is enrolled. The winner will be mailed the check upon confirmation of student status and announced concurrently.
